"Here, I’m getting into abstracting the head and thinking now about cubism and primitive art, I'm coming in and trying to have the background, instead of surrounding the figure, break into the figure and fragment it. I’m very into fragments at this time. The figures are very realistic but, at the same time, they are very abstract.”
